THE Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome Heritage Aviation Association notched up a milestone recently with its 10,000th visitor at the Evans Head F-111 Museum, less than a year after opening its doors to the public.

From August 2013 thousands of visitors have viewed the vibrant complex in the recently refurbished historic Bellman Hangar, which is rapidly building a picture of the vital role Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome has played during its 80-year history and especially during World War II.

President Rod Kinnish said since opening, the museum has proved its value to both local history and to the local economy.

“We have been thrilled with the support from the community in this important local and regional venture which is showing now its value to everyone. It has been a joint local effort, and with our team of enthusiastic volunteers it has really paid of in more ways than one,” he said.

The Evans Head F-111 Museum is open on weekends and holidays from 10am-4pm, and for tour bookings at other times.
