THE Westpac in-store facility at Evans Head will formally close on March 28, following Slatters Newsagency Pty Ltd going into receivership, the bank has announced.
The in-store, which Westpac said had provided limited transactional banking services, had operated from inside the Slatters Newsagency at 8 Oak St, Evans Head, for nine years.
The in-store business was operated by Slatters, which also employed the in-store’s staff.
“This is both unfortunate and regrettable for our customers in and around Evans Head and I want to apologise to them for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Dale Ambler, Westpac’s regional general manager.
“I wish to make it very clear that this decision does not have any impact on our customers’ accounts or their existing relationship with us.
“We will be writing to customers in Evans Head to tell them exactly how we will be helping them.”
This will include the ATM at Oak St, while we will also continue to have a Westpac representative in Evans Head over the coming weeks to answer questions.
“In the meantime, we’ve seen a declining number of transactions as customers do more of their banking online, so we’re looking at all the options available to help customers meet their banking needs.”
