EVANS Head will be a hive of activity on the land and in the water on Saturday, April 26, when Crankfest, the region’s premier celebration of youth arts and culture, is held.

Held on the waterfront at Evans Head, the day kicks off at 8am with a surfing competition and Evans Head’s largest markets in the Main Beach area.

By 10am the three stages will showcase dance, singers, songwriters and live bands.

The focus then switches to the skate competition which kicks off at noon with warm-ups to start, before the skate jam gets under way around 2pm.

Move It Mob Style, an Aboriginal dance group from ABC3 and NITV, will co-ordinate hip-hop workshops.

Free buses will run from district centres, including Coraki, Nimbin, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby, Casino, Byron Bay, Suffolk Park, Lismore and Ballina.

For pick-up points, departure and arrival times, visit the Crankfest website.
